Recently, enormous attention has been focused on the spread of diseases, in particular COVID-19 (the corona virus). At Bushnell Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we have been focused on preventing the spread of disease long before anyone had even heard of the corona virus and COVID-19. Our concern for the safety of our patients goes well beyond just infection control. There are numerous other aspects of our practice that help keep you safe. In this article, some of the many safety precautions that are routinely implemented by our practice will be highlighted.

Bushnell Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is committed to always meeting or exceeding all applicable infection control standards including those of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, our practice is committed to additional safeguards which may be recommended as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

We use a multi-layer approach is taken to protect each patient. Single use protective barriers are used to cover the dental chairs and much of the equipment within the treatment rooms. These are changed out after each patient. Additionally, all exposed surfaces in each treatment room are cleaned and disinfected with medical grade solutions between patients.

Our dental instruments are meticulously cleaned and sterilized. An ultrasonic cleaner and an instrument washer are used to prepare the instruments for the sterilization process. In order to ensure proper sterilization of our instruments, Bushnell Family & Cosmetic Dentistry uses the state-of-the-art Midmark M11 Steam Sterilizers. This unit is manufactured in the USA by Midmark Corporation, the recognized leader in dental sterilization equipment.

At Bushnell Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, our safeguards extend well beyond our stringent infection control practices. All of our radiography (x-rays) are digital. This results in up to 90% less radiation exposure to our patients as compared to traditional film x-rays.

All of our dental labwork is manufactured in the USA. This not only results in increased safety for our patients but also helps employ more American workers.

Additionally, we take many precautions to make sure that the water that we use for dental procedures is of the highest purity. Only distilled water that undergoes additional purification is used. Furthermore, purifiers are used to protect even our waterlines and equipment from bacteria that could be harmful to your health.

With everything going on right now, we want you to rest assured that we are looking out for the safety of you and your family. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
